Californian Fashion Brand Revolve Brings AI-Generated Collections: Makes Collections Available On Its eCommerce Platform
Californian fashion brand Revolve brings AI-generated collections. The brand has come up with three collections that will now be available on its eCommerce platform.
These collections were first made public at the “first AI Fashion Week” (AIFW). The presentation was in the digital format.
Paatiff’s José Sobral, Opé Majek of Opé, and Matilde Mariano of Molnm were the creative forces behind these three collections. Each of the collections comes with ten to twelve unique pieces, and the outfits are available in the size range of XS to L.
The uniqueness of the outfits in the collection lies in that they are not the collaborative efforts of a group of fashion designers alone. On the contrary, they are an outcome of the integration of technology into fashion.
Mitch Moseley, the chief executive officer of Revolve’s owned brands, has been at the helm of these collections. He has led everyone involved in the process of creating and executing these AI-generated collections.
Everything has been done on a defined profit-sharing basis among the designers and architects. The Californian fashion brand has not shared the profit-sharing details yet.
So, how did things work for the brand in creating the AI-generated collections? Revolve gave them complete access to its supply chain.
Further, a project manager on the brand’s behalf supervised everything, and there was a close collaboration between the technicians, product developers, ateliers, and pattern makers (from Revolve), and the designers.
However, this collaboration and the integration of AI highlighted some major limitations about the use of AI in fashion. In fact, some of the designs derived from the use of AI were not practical in terms of physical production.
So, adjustments had to be made at different levels.
Still, the use of AI in the designing and production of outfits can accelerate the process. With technology in place, designers don’t need to spend weeks or months in conceptualization.
