The jumpsuit trend actually started in the 1970s, although it didn’t pick up steam until the early 80s.

The flowing legs made the jumpsuits a bit of optical illusion. Are they long dresses or pants? The playfully silly attitude and variety of colors fit the theme of the 80s perfectly.
