Eugenia Kim Completes 25 Years In Business: Gets Into New Categories

Eugenia Kim completes 25 years in business, setting great examples for independent fashion designers. This New York-based independent fashion designer specializes in hats.

However, as she reaches the milestone, she gets into new categories to expand her horizon as a designer.

It is never easy for milliners to find a foothold in the USA unless they explore other branches of fashion.

However, Eugenia Kim has done that out of sincere innovation and despite sometimes being scorned for frivolous styles.

Kim has planned a cocktail party at the Efrain Lopez Gallery in TriBeCa. The party to be held on Thursday night will celebrate the completion of Kim’s 25 years in the business. She will also display an “Icon” collection at the party.

The collection will have twelve flippant designs from the designer. The designs will include a “Jonah” bucket hat,” “pink felt haircut hat,” and an ashtray fascinator.

Flaunting her reputable client base and the popularity of her haircut hats, Kim said,

“Weirdly, one of my customers for haircut hats is Bill Murray. I had made some for Opening Ceremony’s exclusive men’s collections like one that was [inspired by] a ’70s businessman with sideburns. What I like about these haircuts is they remind me of Lego people hair. He also ordered one that was an Elvis [Presley] style with a little curl on the top.”

Having reached the pinnacle of success with her hats, Kim now gets into a new bridal collection. The collection aims to help brides to celebrate their personal styles.

In addition, Kim will soon get into a “Love Tennis collection.” This debut collection will be available at stores from the middle of April.

As Kim continues to go stronger after completing 25 years in the business, she says, 

“It’s luck. And you also have to take chances, but you have to outweigh your risks. I just moved slowly. I’m actually a fast mover, but I didn’t overbuy or overextend myself,” she said. “What I love about millinery is that you can create these really amazing pieces and then create something really commercial. I can see what I can make for Celebrity ‘A’ to The Met. That’s the beauty of what I do because I have an atelier here and overseas factories that can produce 1,000 units of something.”
