Prada Is Getting Into Space Fashion For NASA’s Artemis III Mission
Gone are the days of the Devil Wears Prada. This time, Prada is getting into space fashion, and that seems like a marriage of fashion and practicality. Also, with this move, it looks like that fashion is about to travel to the Moon.
Prada is to partner with Axiom Space, a commercial space company, to design NASA spacesuits. These spacesuits are for NASA’s “2025 Artemis III Mission.”
Axiom Space and Prada will work hand in hand through the entire design process. The engineers from Prada will work to get the designs and materials right. The collaboration will further ensure that every spacesuit is suitable for a critical space mission and it fits the “lunar environment.”
Overall, Axiom will bring its space knowledge to the table, while Prada will add the element of “sleekness” to the spacesuits.
In this context, Lorenzo Bertelli, the marketing director of Prada Group, said, “Our decades of experimentation, cutting-edge technology and design know-how […] will now be applied to the design of a spacesuit for the Artemis era. It is a true celebration of the power of human creativity and innovation to advance civilisation.”
He further marked this move from the Italian fashion giant as an outcome of the “forward-thinking” and “brave” ethos.
With Prada’s involvement in space fashion, the fashion industry has reached a new height. So, fashion is no more about designing and aesthetics.
It has taken a step further to deal with technical materials. Also, for decades, the entire industry has been working hard to nail the element of practicality in every creation. This collaboration indeed looks like the sweetest yield of decades of effort.
With successfully venturing into space fashion, NASA can now take it forward by working for VIP clients. There are high chances of collaborating with names like Virgin Galactic, Elon Musk’s SpaceX, and Blue Origin.
