Serena William Becomes The First Athlete To Receive The CFDA Fashion Icon Award 2023
Amazon Fashion is to confer the CFDA Fashion Icon Award 2023 to Serena Williams. She is the first athlete to get this honor.
This felicitation will happen at the American Museum of Natural History, New York, on 6th November, 2023. There will be a gala dinner party after the award ceremony.
Sarah Jessica Parker will host the event, and it will also honor the designers of the year for men’s and women’s fashion and accessories. Further, the name of the “Shop With Google Emerging Designer” contest will revealed at the event.
This tennis sensation is to receive the award, which has already been conferred to names like Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Naomi Campbell.
Thom Browne, the chairman of the CFDA, said,
“Serena is one of the most inspiring people in the world…a true individual…she is an icon of the sports world…representing greatness on the highest level…bringing fashion to another world…for another audience…always staying true to herself, both on and off the court…a perfect combination of our worlds…the ultimate example of individuality in everything she does.…Serena is a true fashion icon.”
She has been attending fashion schools while snatching the titles consistently at the tennis court. Further, she came up with her clothing brand, S by Serena, in 2018. The next year, she launched a jewelry line inspired by “confident women.”
Serena Williams, the winner of the 23 tennis Grand Slams, has also said how fashion has been a way of expressing herself. Further, the owner of the brand S by Serena feels that fashion should be inclusive.
So, everyone should have access to fashionable outfits and accessories irrespective of body size, race, and income.
“I am incredibly honored to be receiving the prestigious Fashion Icon Award from the CFDA, an organization whose work I have long admired and to stand among style icons I have always looked up to,”
the trailblazing tennis player with an aggressive and power-packed style has further added.
