Met Gala 2023: The Best, The Worst, The Most On-Theme

Fashion’s biggest night, the Met Gala 2023, is an event that is the most exciting and eagerly awaited fashion red carpet ever, even for celebrities. This is the most star-studded event of the year, and this year all the big names of fashion and Hollywood were on the red carpet.

The Met Gala 2023 stripped other red carpets like the Oscars, and the Grammys look like high school prom in front of itself. This year the Met Gala 2023 theme was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty. The night was in honor of the legendary Karl Lagerfeld.

So in honor of Karl Lagerfeld and his amazing contribution to fashion for over half a century. Followthefashion is counting down our best and worst looks of the event.

Met Gala 2023 Looks

Here we are looking at a few of the best looks of Met Gala 2023.

1. Dua Lupa – Chanel

So let’s start with one of the co-hosts of the night, Dua Lipa. Although the tweed ball gown is a little underwhelming for the night, she was definitely on the theme, choosing to wear a Chanel gown.

But the levitating singer shined brighter than ever because of the huge Tiffany diamond around her neck. And because of that, she secured a spot on our list.

2. Rihanna & A$AP Rocky – Valentino & Gucci

A queen is never late everyone else is just early. And that is exactly what Rihanna and A$AP Rocky proved to us yesterday. The couple arrived last on the red carpet, but they were worth it.

Wearing a gorgeous white Valentino wedding gown with a dramatic rose detailed torso and headdress. She removed the headdress after reaching the mid-carpet and revealed her gorgeous baby bump.

3. Nicole Kidman – Chanel

Taking us on a fashion flashback, Nicole Kidman wore the exact gown which she wore in the Chanel No.5 film back in 2004. Talk about iconic!!

But what confused us was why she chose to wear a black strappy sandal with it. It is pulling focus from the gorgeous flowy gown.

4. Michaela Coel – Schiaparelli

Talk about being an actual goddess., Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Michaela Coel is what we here at FollowTheFashion call drop an actual goddess. Dazzling in a gorgeous gold studded sheer Schiaparelli dress.

5. Gisele Bündchen – Chanel

Gisele showed us exactly why she is one of the most iconic supermodels. Post-divorce, Gisele Bündchen made her first red carpet appearance, and she absolutely dazzled. Bündchen paid homage to Lagerfeld by wearing a beautiful white Chanel gown with a feathery cape.

6. Penelope Cruz – Chanel

She was one of the co-hosts of the night, and she dazzled in her red carpet-attire. Penelope Cruz wore a white Chanel wedding gown with a hood. The whole dress was fully embroidered and sequined.

7. Olivia Wilde – Chloé

Staying perfectly on the theme, by upgrading one of the most iconic Chloe gowns by Karl Lagerfeld. This is a great way to pay tribute to such a brilliant man. But to be perfectly honest, the original black with the gold violin element looked better than the white version.

8. Anna Hathaway – Atelier Versace

Anne Hathaway is continuing her fashion streak by wearing a gorgeous white but mixing the classic looks of two houses. Depicting the Chanel tweed and, at the same time, the retro and sexy look of the iconic Versace safety pin dress.

9. Doja Cat – Oscar de la Renta

Well, it’s in her name!! Doja Cat took the theme to the T and dressed up like a white cat, particularly, Choupette, who was Lagerfeld’s cat. Doja wore a cat-inspired Oscar de la Renta dress with a fluffy train at the end.

10. Kristen Stewart – Chanel

It was obvious that she was gonna wear Chanel. Kristen Stwart was always a Chanel girl. But her tonight’s outfit gave us very punk rock drag king vibes, and we are all for it.

The sheer shirt under the panel is a wonderful addition to give a sex appeal to the whole look, and both her makeup and hair complemented her look perfectly.

11. Florence Pugh – Valentino

Pugh stunned the red carpet with her gorgeous Valentino gown with a long white train. Since she is a fashion girl, she was expected to stun the red carpet at the Met Gala 2023. The headpiece she wore is the one that stood out the most, and it is rightfully so.

12. Jenna Ortega – Thome Brown

Well, Jenna Ortega proved that she was rightfully chosen as Wednesday Adams, her Thome Browne is exactly what she would wear as Wednesday.

Taking inspiration from Mexican culture and the flamenco style of dressmaking but with a gothic twist, Thome Browne paid homage to Karl Lagerfeld by adding tweed and pearl accents.

13. Ariana DeBose – Prabal Gurung

To add a little pop of color on the stairs of the Met, Ariana DeBose wore a bright canary yellow, parka-inspired hooded gown. The look is fun, and the color adds a nice touch to the whole aesthetic of the evening.

14. Billie Eilish – Simone Rocha

Ditching her usual baggy clothing for this year’s Met Gala, Billie Eilish chose a sultry sheer, body hugging number.

She wore a black high-neck dress with repurposed tulle and lace work done all over. She did a very gothic look with the gown by pairing it with gloves and stockings.

15. Lil Nas X – Dior Men, Swarovski Crystals

Talk about a daring, may I say outfit, cus let’s face it, he only wore a Dior Men’s bottoms. The one person you can always count on not to disappoint is Lil Nas X. He wore a men’s bikini bottom with full body silver paint and bejeweled himself with Swarovski crystals.

16. Jennifer Lopez – Ralph Lauren

17. Kim Kardashian – Schiaparelli

18. Cardi B- Chenpeng Studio

19. Priyanka Chopra Jonas & Nick Jonas – Valentino

20. Bad Bunny – Jacquemus

21. Pedro Pascal – Valentino
